These are our equine faculty members. You will be meeting them and working with them in our equine massage program.

Eddie is a National Show Horse gelding and is our 'senior' massage instructor.  Ed has a big personality and a bigger heart.  After a lengthy and distinguished career in the show ring, Eddie is now enjoying retirement and working part time as our goodwill ambassador and a member of the META faculty.  Ed is very personable, loves attention, and is very expressive about his massage, so he is the perfect horse to instruct students on what is working and what isn't .

Mattie is an ex-racehorse and was adopted through CANTER.  She is a 12 year old thoroughbred mare.  Mattie is very high spirited and opinionated (as most mares are!).  She requires experienced horse handling, and someone with strong leadership skills.  Mattie loves treats and can be very pushy about getting into pockets, so we don't hand feed her.  She will teach you many things about being around horses.

Like Eddie, Teddy is also a National Show Horse (half Arabian and half Saddlebred).  Teddy is the youngest faculty member.  He is very smart and playful and loves massages and treats.  He plays very hard with the other horses and gets himself sore.  He is curious but timid, and can spook in a second, so he requires constant attention and alertness.  Teddy will 'air groom' when you hit a particularly good spot during massage.  He is a character.
